Seminole Dining’s Italian restaurant offers fresh pressed paninis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Seminole Dining’s Tuscan Eatery offers three delicious and diverse paninis for customers during lunch and dinner.
Tuscan Eatery is Seminole Dining’s FSUnique Italian restaurant housed in 1851, a state-of-the-art facility on West Jefferson Street in Tallahassee. 1851 boasts four microrestaurants and a convenience store.
The three paninis are:
• Grilled Vegetable: Pizza sauce, mozzarella, roasted vegetables on Ciabatta bread.
• Italian: Salami, ham, provolone, romaine, tomato with red wine vinaigrette on panini bread.
• Pollo Rustico: Pesto chicken, spinach, provolone with sun-dried tomato pesto on Focaccia bread.
“We make the pizza sauce in house,” Seminole Dining Executive Culinary Director Travis Johnson said of the Grilled Vegetable panini. “It’s an FSUnique-developed recipe that became a Sodexo recipe.”
The roasted vegetables – fresh eggplant and zucchini – are purchased from Voyager Farms in Balm, Florida, through Chapman’s Produce of Tallahassee.
“Whenever possible, we try to incorporate local and regional produce in our recipes and meals,” Johnson said.
The sandwiches are made to customers’ specifications, so they can customize ingredients while ordering. The paninis offer a different flair at Tuscan Eatery, which also offers personal-sized pizzas and fresh pasta baked in a 600-degree wood stone oven.
“We wanted Florida State University students, faculty and staff to have unique experiences while at Florida State,” Seminole Dining Regional District Manager John Teeple said. “Tuscan Eatery provides a beautiful, modern setting with high-quality Italian food.”
The paninis won’t hurt a budget either – all three sandwiches are less than $6 before taxes.
“Our goal is to provide affordable, delicious food for our customers,” Teeple said. “We want students to enjoy a healthy, well-balanced meal so they can be successful at FSU.”
